What's In My Travel Makeup Kit?

The month of March was an exciting one for me as I went on a vacation to Dubai with my family. Travel equals a lot of packing, and this is the most stressful part of the trip. You want to carry the perfect outfits, accessories and of course makeup, without overpacking. This time I had decided that I do not want to overpack and carry only the essentials. And this was hard to do, especially when it came to makeup.

I decided that I was going to carry minimal makeup products that were a necessity. I was torn between which eyeshadow palette I wanted to carry. I ended up carrying three. I knew that Dubai weather was going to be humid, so I did not want to use a heavy base. I took very few base products. And since this city is all about the bling I wanted some glam eye looks, so I carried my three favourite eyeshadow palettes.

Let's take a look of what is in my makeup bag.

My Travel Makeup Bag

I used this little pink travel bag I had to carry my makeup. I believe I bought this from Amazon a couple of years ago. It is a sturdy one and can fit a lot of things.

The first thing in here is sunscreen.

Sunscreen

I use the Supergoop Play sunscreen and this was the first essential product I needed to pack. I was going to be out in the sun most of the time and I wanted a sunscreen that felt light. This was a perfect pick. I love this sunscreen it does not leave any white cast.

Foundation and concealer

Next, I packed my foundation and concealer. I use the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD concealer to cover my under eye area. My go to foundation is the Too Faced Born This Way foundation. This was perfect for this trip as it is a medium coverage foundation and does not feel too heavy on the skin. It was exactly what I needed.

Another base product I carried was the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, I like to wear this underneath my foundation for a nice glowy skin.

Setting powder and spray

My go to setting powder is the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing powder. I needed to carry a good setting powder to set my under eye area and t-zone.

I picked my NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray to keep my makeup in place. I actually wanted to bring the one with matte finish but accidentally packed the dewy finish. Anyway it worked out so it was not a big deal.

Eyebrow gel

I brought my favourite Benefit brow gel to keep my eyebrows in place. I do not need to use an eyebrow pencil as this tinted brow gel fills the brow area without looking too overpowering. It gives nice natural looking brow.

Mascara

I took the Rare Beauty mascara which is my most used one.

Eyeliner

I packed my trusted Benefit Roller Matte Liner, which I use everyday.

Blush

Choosing a blush to carry was not easy. I had a lot of options. And I needed to pick a blush that would go with every eyeshadow look. I ended up picking the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch blush in Encourage. This blush gives a soft mauvy tone which looks very natural.

I also carried a mini Pat McGrath Labs blush in Paradise Venus just to apply lightly over the liquid blush. This is a warm color and gives a nice bronzy look. I did not end up using this one much. I just used my liquid blush.

Lipsticks

I picked a few lipsticks in nude and pink tones that would go with different looks.

Eyeshadow Palettes

Now, the fun part. Let's take a look at the eyeshadow palettes I ended up picking.

The first one was the Natasha Denona I Need A Nude Palette. I love the palette. It has the perfect shimmers in it which I needed. I was a little sceptical about taking this one. The reason was because it is not the most compact, I wanted to stick to minis. However, it had my two favourite shades Sheen and Mia. As you may know already these were her new shimmer formulas she launched in this palette. I love the finish these shades give. So I ended up packing this one.

Next, I brought the Pat McGrath Labs Divine Bronze Luxe Quad in Venusian Sunrise. I carried this with the intention of creating a nice bronzy, gold eyeshadow look. I used this palette once. In retrospect I could have skipped on this one as I did not end up using it as much.

Last but not the least the Huda Beauty Cool Matte Obsessions palette. This is my favourite palette and it was going to go with me no matter what. I absolutely love the pink and mauvy tones in this palette. The matte formula in this is incredible. I used this palette everyday on my trip. A few times I just created matte looks with this one.

Highlighter

I brought my Rare Beauty Positive Light Highlighter in Exhilarate. This is a stunning highlight and does not look too overpowering. Love the finish it gives!

Beauty tools

Lastly, I refrained from carrying too many beauty tools. I took my eyelash curler which was important. Next, a beauty blender to apply my foundation.

I also packed a few brushes like eyeshadow brushes, highlighter brush and a blush brush.

And there you have it. Those are all the products I carried for my trip. I was happy that I did not end up carrying too much makeup. It takes a lot of space in the luggage and is heavy. But this time I carried minimal products and it not occupy too much space in my luggage.

If you are going to be travelling as well this list of products can give you an idea on what all you would need to carry without going overboard.
